GOD is ONE

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

He is not two gods, not three gods but ONE GOD. Mathematics teach us that 1 is not 2 or 3 but it can only be 1, singular. 1 is not a compound number. It is not made up of multiple items but it is singular.

1Titus 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

There is ONE GOD and one mediator, that means ONE GOD ("and" means plus) one mediator. 1+1= 2. Christ was sent as a mediator, or go between, for God and man. Man had alienated God when he disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden tree in the garden, therefore God could no longer have any thing to do with man who had become sin. Therefore He needed someone else to mediate between Him and man. God could not be a mediator because he was the offended party. Man could not be a mediator because he was the offender. Therefore we needed a go-between, Christ, the perfect man, one who had not sinned.

The first five commandments are concerning the oneness of God. He is a jealous God and does not want to share any of His worship with anyone or anything.

Exodus 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

If God who is all knowledgeable knows of no other god then there can't possibly be another god in the universe.

Deuteronomy 4:35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

1Kings 8:60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Isaiah 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

(God is saying I AM the God, not I am a God but the indicating that He was the ONLY God in existence in the universe)

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Psalms 103:17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

Psalms 106:48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

God alone had existed from everlasting in the past unto everlasting in the future. This is a fact that is hard for man to accept, that God has always existed and will always exist, that God is without beginning or end but it is true.
